Under one roof – Pod jednou střechou

Exhibition opening

After the welcome address by the Czech Consul General Dr Markéta Meissnerová, the curator Michal Urban will introduce the exhibition and enter into conversation with Petr Kubát and his mother Mrs Kubátová about former and present residents of the featured houses. The Kubát family comes from Kytlice, one of the featured places.

The exhibition of the Antikomplex association from Prague tells the story of seven houses in the Czech border region. On display are photographs of the houses with their inhabitants then and now, as well as many objects.

Thousands of Czechs live today in houses whose German owners and residents were expelled after the Second World War. Some Czech and German families connected by such houses have successfully tried to establish contact with each other. Where it was possible to overcome insecurity, inhibitions and fears, the residents were able to meet each other without prejudice and not infrequently friendships developed.
