"Faces of Russian Resistance" is the title of the new exhibition at the Bautzner Straße Dresden Memorial Centre, which will be on display during regular opening hours until the end of the year. Organised by the Dresden "Citizens' Initiative against Putin", it is dedicated to the political prisoners in Russia who are awaiting release under inhumane conditions.

The exhibition portrays 16 political prisoners from all strata of Russian society, including artists, students, local politicians, police officers, journalists and activists, most of whom are serving long prison sentences. Photos of the prisoners are displayed with their names, occupation and length of imprisonment, while a QR code allows visitors to call up further information in three different languages on their mobile phones. Trilingual reading folders about the people portrayed are also available.

The project was initiated by a team of around thirteen local politicians and anti-war activists who have left Russia but are still in contact with the detainees. With the exhibition, the organisers want to draw attention to the violations of human rights in Russia in order to get political prisoners released with European help, or at least to improve their lives.
